Location, Population and Climate
Palm Desert is located in Southern California in Riverside County about 11 miles east of Palm Springs. History of Palm Desert
Palm Desert was originally known as “Palm Village” in the 1920s due to the date palms planted in the area. During World War II, General Patton used the town to train for desert warfare in the United States’ African Campaign. A little later, four brothers – Cliff, Randall, Phill and Carl Henderson, along with a few additional investors, envisioned Palm Desert as a destination resort. They changed the name of the town to Palm Desert and spent many years developing the area into the bustling town that tourists love so much today.
